When you want to rent a car in Bali, either for Self Driven or With driver, of course there are many points that need to be considered before you take a car. Based on our experience for the last 15 years in car rental industry in Bali, these are 2 big points what are mostly tourist looked for first before renting a car. We are trying to help by explain you which is the right car for you. We are trying to be honest here.
1. Price or Rate: between cheap and costly
By knowing first for the price, or rate, of the car rental, then you can allocate how much money you should spend. This is related to your budget.
We divided the price into 2 categories: cheap and expensive. The word cheap is always sound interesting. Why? Because you can save some money and than maybe allocate it into another important thing, such as buy some handicrafts, or get a spa service.
If Cheap is what you are looking for, then we are advise you taking a small size car (2 or 3 persons maximum, with small luggage). It could be the Toyota Agya or the Suzuki Karimun Estilo. These 2 cars is the cheapest one. In addition, the Suzuki Karimun Estilo is cheaper than the Toyota Agya.
Please be noted, when we said cheap, it is equivalent with the condition. Do not expect a nice look, well-decorated interior car when renting these car. Instead, just focus on the functionality of the car; that the car is able to bring you anywhere in the island.
Again, we need you to know, if you are on three and decided to take the Jimny, the person who sit at the back seat will suffer, or not enjoy his trip much. It is because the room is limited there! But, if you consider it as part of the adventure driving in Bali, it should not be a big problem.
2. Capacity: 2 or 4 or 8 seater cars
For a single or a couple traveler, of course a small size car is what they are looking for. But, for a family traveler, a medium or even a big size car is the perfect one.
In our company, we have the policy: smaller is cheaper. While bigger car is costly. So keep in mind if Capacity is your concern, than be ready for a little bit expensive price.
These cars - which is categorized into a medium and a bigger car - is more convenience than a small size car. Therefore, they have a little bit expensive price. The year of their made is no more than 5 years old. So, it is obviously a convenience enough car to drive.
When we say medium and big, please note it is fit with 5 - 8 persons / passengers. The option available for you are: Daihatsu Taruna, Toyota Avanza, Suzuki APV and Toyota Innova.
Still related with the capacity, if you are traveling in Bali within a group, let say 10 - 14 persons, than we recommend you taking the biggest one, that is the Isuzu Elf.
