Bali has a good selection of theme or adventure parks including the excellent Waterbom Park and Spa in Tuban (755 676) Sprawling over lanscaped tropical gardens, it founds the entertainment capital of the region - a one - stop vocation hub conveniently located right in another pleasure city, Kuta.

The Bali bird Park (owned by Bali Adventure Tours, 721 480) in Batubulan has a fascinating collection of over a thousand birds and benefits from one of the island's best restaurants and an exotic gift shop. The Bali Reptile Park (299 344) is next door with Komodo Dragons , lizards etc and a number of interesting displays. Snakes and crocs can also be seen at the Reptile Park in Mengwi (243 686).

Further north, in Taro, visit the Elephant Safari Park and spend a day with Sumatran elephants in their picturesque tropical park refuge. The park has a large restaurant, museum and souvenir shop that sells every imaginable elephant product you can think of. There is also an extensive Buterfly Park (814 282) in Tabanan which is responsible for the preservation and breeding of endangered species and has a magnificient selection. It is the largest of its kind in South East Asia and well worth a visit.
